The Mystery

The Victim

The Victim

The victim, Birdy. We think he can identify his assailant, but not a peep out of him.

The Crime Scene

The Crime Scene

Birdy was found several feet from the tree in the middle of the hallway. Perhaps a little drooled on and shaken up, but otherwise unharmed. It could have been worse...much, much worse.

Chalk line and crime scene tape courtesy of Photoshop. Thought it best not to hurt our new carpet.

The Evidence

The Evidence

Birdy had been tied to the top of this gift. At some point between 12:30 pm and 5:30pm an unidentified assailant removed him from the package. Given the condition and location of the package, the evidence seems to indicate a delicate removal.

Suspect One, Our Primary Suspect

Suspect One, our Primary Suspect

A notorious stuffy attacker, her rap sheet has several assaults and disections. However, given the seemingly delicate removal of Birdy from his package we just aren't sure...she's not generally known for her grace. Although she has proved herself stealthy; crossing from her bed in the living room over 12 feet to the dining table unnoticed until she starts to beg for food.

Our victim also was unharmed, which doesn't fit her usual pattern. Perhaps the crime was interupted? Or perhaps his screams for help (which sound oddly like a cardinal's call) startled her?

Suspect Two

Suspect Two

Don't let her innocent looking face fool you. This pup has a rap sheet a foot long, including previous arrests for similar crimes; including attempted opening of Christmas gifts. We have to keep an eye on this one around a tree once gifts are there. Depending on the time of crime, she may have an air tight alibi. She was at work (with me) until shortly after 5.

The crime remains unsolved.

Hilarious post! I'm glad Birdy is relatively unharmed. I'd hate to think sweet little Gab is guilty!

bwahahahaha! we don't have those sorts of crimes at our house but the cat did get her own christmas tree, if only to protect ours. she likes to...snack on it.

I'm afraid it's not looking good for Gabby. She was just spotted Saturday paying a little too much attention to the gifts under the tree. Thank goodness it's not much longer until Christmas!
